Unbeknownst to a lot of people, the hCG diet actually entails a lot of phases (4 phases, to be exact). Each phase of the said diet plan serves a purpose to help you lose weight.
Phase 1 of the hCG diet is considered to be the “loading phase” and in this phase, you are supposed to “load up” on calories.
What I mean by this is that you will eat the fattest, most calorie-laden foods you can get your hands on. Do you like Pizza? Go ahead and eat it. Maybe you want some donuts after that? Go ahead and eat it.
The idea of phase 1 is to prep your body for the rigorous calorie restriction that is to follow. I say rigorous because people who want to lose weight always struggle when the calorie restriction begins.
Now, the foods that I’ve mentioned are just some of the foods you can eat safely on phase 1. But in this article, I will talk about the foods that you can eat on phase 1 and how you eat affects your overall hCG diet progress.
1. Fatty Fruits. There is actually a group of fruits that are considered to be “fatty”. These fruits, albeit healthy and nutritious, contains a lot more calories than other fruits. Some of these fruits are avocados, passion fruit, Kiwi, among others. If you want to prep for phase 1 of the hCG diet, then be sure to eat a lot of these.
2. Nuts. Another fatty food you may want to gorge on in this phase of the hCG diet is nuts. Nuts contain not only fat but it also contains a lot of goodies that your body needs. In fact, studies have shown that people who eat nuts have better cognitive functions than those who don’t. My suggestion would be to eat some pine nuts, cashew nuts, and sesame seeds.
3. Heavy-Calorie Foods. I’ve previously mentioned that you can eat donuts and pizza while you’re loading up. The thing is, you want to eat foods that, although contains a lot of calories, it must also contain the macronutrients your body needs. The Macronutrients that you need are Protein, Carbs, and Fat. For example, if you eat a pizza, you may want to opt for the meatlovers pizza because it contains a lot of meat and meat equals more protein. Protein is an essential part of any diet as it is the building block of muscles.
4. Dairy Products. I am especially weak when it comes to Ice Cream. So, if you feel the same way, now is the perfect time to eat a lot of it. Also, you can drink milk as well as it contains calcium and a host of other nutrients that are good for your body.
These are just some of the foods you can eat during phase 1 of the hCG diet. Again, the idea of the loading phase is to prepare your body for what’s to come (calorie-restricted meals).
